Archery

Programs, often offered by local archery clubs or target range facilities, that provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn, become competitive in and enjoy archery, an indoor or outdoor sport in which the participant uses a bow to shoot arrows at a target with the objective of hitting the circle in the centre of the target (the bulls-eye). The programs may provide archery instruction and access to equipment and facilities, and may sponsor or make arrangements for athletes to participate in archery competitions.

Badminton

Programs, often offered by local badminton clubs, that provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn, become competitive in and enjoy badminton. Programs that provide opportunities for people of all ages with functional or cognitive disabilities to learn, become competitive in and enjoy a wide variety of recreational activities and sports, many of which are played in wheelchairs or have otherwise been modified to accommodate the athletes' disabilities.

Fencing

Programs, often offered by local fencing clubs, that provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn, become competitive in and enjoy fencing, a sport which involves the use of the foil, epee and sabre in attack and defensive moves. The object of a match is to score points by touching an opponent with the weapon. The program may provide access to a fencing master or coach and fencing equipment; and may sponsor or make arrangements for athletes to participate in fencing competitions.

Fishing

Programs, often offered by local fishing clubs, that provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn and enjoy the sport of fly and bait fishing in saltwater and freshwater environments. Many fishing clubs sponsor competitions for members. Hunting

Hunters generally use hunting rifles or bows and arrows and must have an appropriate licence to legally pursue the sport.

Off Road Vehicle Riding

Programs, often offered by local off road vehicle clubs, that provide opportunities for people of legal driving age to ride four wheel drive vehicles, all terrain vehicles (motorized cycles with three or four balloon-style tires that are designed for off-road use in a variety of terrains and are commonly known as ATVs), snowmobiles or other off road vehicles (ORVs) as a recreational activity and/or to become competitive as amateurs in the sport of off road vehicle racing. ORVs are motor vehicles that can be operated cross-country without benefit of a road or trail over land, snow and other natural terrain. The programs may sponsor or make arrangements for riders to participate in competitions, usually at the local, regional or provincial level.

Racquetball

Programs, often offered by local athletic clubs or Y facilities, that provide opportunities for people of all ages to learn, become competitive in and enjoy racquetball, a sport similar to handball in which players use a short-handled racquet to hit a ball against an indoor or outdoor four-walled court. The program may sponsor or make arrangements for athletes to participate in racquetball competitions which generally include men's and women's singles and doubles and mixed doubles events as well as junior events.

Scuba Diving

Programs that provide opportunities for people of all ages to explore the underwater world using underwater breathing equipment including a mask, fins, wetsuit, tank of compressed air, a mouthpiece connected by hose to the air tank and a pressure gauge which measures the amount of air consumed. Included are programs that provide diving instruction and issue diving certificates to those who have successfully completed the course.

Shooting

Programs, often offered by local gun and rifle clubs, that provide opportunities for people to learn, become competitive in and enjoy shooting. The programs are generally open to people of all ability levels; have divisions for juveniles as well as adults; provide practice and training sessions; offer firearm safety education; and may sponsor or make arrangements for members to participate in local competitions in which marksmen and women use pistols, rifles and/or shotguns to fire at stationary or moving targets from either a standing or prone position.
