Description and Services
Description (Service) Celebrates the work of Jane Jacobs on the livability and walk-ability of cities through free group walking tours led by knowledgeable volunteers * the event takes place around the world * tour leaders select their own walk topics, themes, routes, points of interest, and stories about a neighborhood, park, street, etc. * walks typically last about an hour and cover one to two kilometers
Hours There are no office hours.
Dates May-October * Annual Jane's Walk event the first weekend in May (approximately 50 walks across Ottawa) * occasional walking tours for particular events through the year * organizing activities for the May event start around February 1
Meetings Irregular * for more information, to volunteer, or to invite organizers to a meeting, contact by email or by phone
Areas Served Gatineau ; Ottawa ; and surrounding areas
Eligibility No restrictions * individuals, groups, and organizations are invited to participate * volunteers under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult
Application Those wishing to lead walking tours must register their tour by mid-April * volunteers for other roles (see website for a list of options) should contact by mid-April
Languages English ; French ; Walks in other languages are welcome
