Description (Service) | COVID-19 (26 Mar 2020): Due to COVID19, many service changes have taken effect, applicable until further notice. Shelter remains open but for essential visits only - call 1-800-461-1842 ext 1 before coming to shelter in person. Hand in Hand volunteer network is no longer running. Community groups are suspended and outreach services will be conducted by phone (1.800.461.1842 ext 2). The administrative office is closed but reachable by email and phone (1.800.461.1842 ext 3). Confidential support and outreach services to women who are victims of abuse and their dependents * Awareness and education activities within the communities and schools Outreach Program: Safety plan; needs assessment; individual counselling; accompaniment to court, lawyer, police, etc.; advocacy; and referrals * individual counselling for children and youth Transitional and Housing Support Programs: Safety plan, needs assessment, find and keep suitable housing, accompaniment, assistance applying for documents and financial assistance, budget assistance, going back to school, finding a job, etc. Pattern Changing Support Group: An educational program to help abused women live a better life Girls Only Support Group: For girls in grades 9 and 10 Hand in Hand Network: A network of volunteers offering clients transportation, child care, shelter support, and community development Self Discovery Group: Getting to know and accepting yourself |
