|Description (Service)||Program that lowers electricity bills for low-income households * provides a monthly credit to eligible customers based on household income and household size * credits will be applied directly to eligible customers’ electricity bills.
An applicant may qualify for both this program and the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)
Residential customers -- disconnection for non-payment is banned from November 15 to April 30 of the following year * electricity providers are required to reconnect customers without power before the start of the disconnection ban period and waive any charges due to reconnection, including Collection of Accounts service fees * visit website for more details

Credit amount will depend on how many people live in the house and the combined household income after tax
If a client's home is electrically heated, or they rely on medical devices requiring a lot of power, OESP offers a higher level of assistance * First Nations and Métis also qualify for a higher level of assistance
|Application||If an applicant and other members of their household (18-74 years old) have filed taxes once in the last two years, they can apply through the website, complete the online application, print and sign the consent form, and mail it to the address provided on the form.
A paper version can also be submitted. * Fill out the Application Form and Consent Form available on the website. * Applicants may also call the contact centre and ask to have these forms mailed to them. * Clients must then send these completed forms by mail to the address provided on the forms.
If an individual and other members of their household (18-74 years old) have not filed taxes once in the last two years, or their personal circumstances have changed since their last tax filing, they can apply with the help of an intake agency. * Ontarians needing in-person support with an online application will also be supported by local intake agencies. * See separate records for local details, or call, send an email, or visit the website for help with locating the nearest intake agency.
The Ontario Native Welfare Administrators’ Association (ONWAA) is available to assist First Nations communities with their applications. * First Nations households can contact ONWAA at 1-844-885-3157 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
