Description (Service) Literacy and Basic Skills
Literacy and basic skills training, including numeracy, digital, communication and interpersonal skills * helps learners prepare for employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education and greater independence

Provides free one-on-one tutoring * Volunteer tutors meet with their learners once a week for two hours at a mutually convenient time and place such as a branch of the Ottawa Public Library. Volunteer tutors are required to attend an orientation session and participate in training workshops several times a year. Learning materials and ongoing tutoring support provided.

Eligibility Ages: 19 year(s) and up 
 
Primarily serves adult learners wanting to improve their literacy and numeracy skills to achieve goals of further education and training, employment or increased independence * must have facility in English and literacy skills below Grade 12 of the Ontario Curriculum * must have CLB 6 in listening and speaking if an ESL learner.
