Description and Services
Description (Service) COVID-19 (25 Mar 2020): Due to COVID19, several changes to services offered. Hospice residence remains open with safety precautions, continuing to admit screened patients at low risk of COVID19. Community programs, volunteer services, day hospice program, in-home support and bereavement programs are cancelled. Coordinators will continue to check in with clients by phone and email and provide support virtually.

Companionship, respite care, and emotional support

Home Support Program: initial visit by a community nurse for assessment and referral * volunteer visiting for companionship and practical support * respite for families up to four hours per week * telephone support * caregiver support

Day Hospice Program: weekly social interaction with peers * variety of activities including art, cads, board games, music * emotional support * respite for caregivers * weekly nurse assessments and communication with physicians as needed

Hospice Residential Care Program: 24 hour residential care in a home-like and peaceful setting when being at home is no longer possible

Family Support Program: helps family members and friends care for someone diagnosed with a life-threatening illness * bereavement follow-up available * individual basis or in group settings for adults, youth and children

Bereavement Support: support through the grieving process by staff and trained volunteers * drop-in groups * partner/spousal support groups * retreats * group walks * counselling * information and referral
Hours Administration Mon-Fri 9 am-4 pm 
Day Hospice Program Tue-Wed (First and Third of Thursday off the month in Richmond) 10 am-2 pm 
Grief Care & Share Walk second and fourth Saturday of the month 
Drop-in Bereavement Group first and third Thursday of the month
Areas Served Ottawa (City of) - and surrounding rural areas
Eligibility Ages: 18 year(s) and up 
For persons 18 years of age and older diagnosed as having a life-limiting illness and their families * Hospice Day Program: individual is still able to get out of the home and can transfer with minimal assistance
