Description and Services
Description (Service) Services to people who have suffered sexual assault, sexual exploitation, dating violence or intimate partner violence within the past six months 
 
Based in a hospital setting, the program offers: 
* emergency contraception including IUD insertion 
* medical examination 
* collection of evidence 
* initial and serial documentation of injuries 
* crisis intervention 
* sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing 
* pregnancy testing 
* HIV post exposure prophylaxis (PEP) 
* preventative vaccinations and prescriptions 
* short-term follow-up for diagnosis and management of mental health post assault by our nurse practitioner 
* community based or professional referrals for ongoing and/or collaborative care 
* completely private and confidential
Sup. Description Services for children aged 0-18 years who have recently suffered sexual assault are offered at CHEO's Emergency department, 401 Smyth Rd, Ottawa.
Hours Acute Service Mon-Sun 24 hours * Outpatient follow-up 2 days a week

Eligibility Ages: 16 year(s) and up 
 
Individuals 16 years and older, who have recently experienced sexual assault, sexual exploitation, dating violence or intimate partner violence
Application For emergency services: within six months of sexual assault and/or intimate partner abuse
Languages English ; French ; American Sign Language (ASL) ; Quebec Sign Language (LSQ) ; Interpretive Services
Fees None - covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)
