Description (Service) National charitable organization facilitating meaningful friendships between people with intellectual disabilities or Autism and students. 
Students and people with intellectual disabilities are matched in one-to-one friendships based on their interests and spend time enjoying experiences most people take for granted, like going for coffee, watching a movie or simply enjoying the company of a friend. 
There are more than 425 Best Buddies chapters at elementary and middle schools, high schools, universities, and colleges across the country. * Volunteer-led, students both with and without intellectual disabilities are involved in running the program and develop their leadership skills.
Hours Mon-Fri 9 am-5 pm
Dates Year-round, based on the academic calendar.
Areas Served Frontenac County ; Hastings County ; Lanark County ; Leeds and Grenville United Counties ; Lennox and Addington County ; Ottawa (City of) ; Prescott and Russell United Counties ; Prince Edward County ; Renfrew County ; Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry United Counties
Eligibility Ages: 7 year(s) - 65 year(s) 
* Elementary, middle, and high schools: Students with and without special needs participate together from within their school 
* University and college level: Students are matched with adults with intellectual disabilities or Autism through a partnering community organization * must be able to form a socially appropriate and mutually enriching friendship
Application Registration is available online. To participate, students get involved in their school group of Best Buddies 
Adults with intellectual disabilities or Autism join the program through the partner community agencies (for the University/College program).
