Description (Service) | ESL (English as a Second Language) classes develop communication skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks. Classes are offered at various locations, components of ESL are: Foundation * CLB's 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 LINC, IELTS, Citizenship, Childcare available for ESL students. Eligibility | Ages: 18 year(s) and up Immigrants, 18 years of age or older, refugees, refugee claimants or new Canadians whose mother tongue is not English. Will accept people on student Visa for a fee. Must produce immigration documents to prove eligibility. |
Application | ESL classes: Students must contact the school location where they wish to receive instruction, in person. Must produce immigration documents to prove eligibility. Referral to the Centralized Language Assessment and Referral Service (CLARS) will be done at the Intake and Placement office on-site. LINC classes: A language assessment that identifies the client's language and training needs must be completed by the CLARS Centre. |
