Description (Service) Public health protection services * investigates health hazards in the community * responds to disease outbreaks * advises institutions on infection control and municipalities on environmental health issues and communicable disease control * responsible for: water and food safety, health hazards, rabies control, beach testing, emergency response and vector borne illness (West Nile virus, Lyme disease)
