Description (Service) | COVID-19 (30 April 2020) The community-based programs continue to accept referrals with the referral source and client interaction being managed through telephone conversation or virtual platform. Residential services geared towards youth Open Custody/Open Detention: Youth custodial facility for male youth * operates eight beds under contract with the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services * placements are court-ordered Child and Family Intervention: Provides two beds under contract with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care for male youth * placements are recommended/referred by the Children's Access and Service Resolution Team of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry * admissions are also by "Special Needs Agreement" between the parent(s) and Laurencrest Child Welfare: Provides three beds on a fee-for-service basis with the Children's Aid Society (CAS) for male youth who are in the care and custody of the CAS * service rates are confirmed by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services On Site School Program: A designated "Section 23" classroom program in partnership with the Upper Canada District School Board * provides Ontario School curriculum academic courses in a specialized classroom * provides non-academic cognitive/behavioural training during non-classroom periods on a rotating basis * offers daily physical education activities and designated physical education periods twice a week * selected students receive daily life skills development opportunities * instruction in credit courses (grades 6-10) are offered by a qualified special education teacher * an educational/clinical coordinator manages the school program with two direct care staff |
