Description and Services
Description (Service) Administers the Ontario Coroners' Act and supervises the area coroners * public information and inquiries service 
 
Coroners are medical doctors with specialized training in the principles of death investigation. Coroners investigate deaths that are sudden and unexpected, as well as some expected deaths warranting further investigation. The findings are used to generate recommendations to help improve public safety and prevent deaths in similar circumstances.

Eligibility Anyone who knows of a death qualifying as a coroner's case must call the coroner * any person may call if concerned or uncertain about the circumstances surrounding a death.
